Dreaming of an international birthday celebration? In 2024, I decided to make it a reality for me and my family. After considering visa-on-arrival destinations for Indian passport holders, we set our sights on Jordan, because getting a Jordan visa is super easy!
Planning an international trip can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to visas. But worry not! If you’re an Indian citizen like me planning your next trip to Jordan, this guide simplifies the visa application process for you.
Types of Jordan Visas –
- Tourist Visa: This visa is ideal for travelers planning to visit Jordan for leisure, sightseeing, or visiting friends and family.
- Business Visa: If you’re traveling to Jordan for business purposes, such as attending meetings, conferences, or exploring potential business opportunities, you’ll need a business visa.
- Transit Visa: For travellers who have a layover in Jordan and plan to leave the airport during their stay, a transit visa is necessary.
In this blog, we will be focusing only on the tourist visa for Jordan.
So, let’s dive into it, shall we?
Option 1 – Pre-Approved Jordan Visa
Indians can get a pre-approved visa prior to arrival. This is a good option if you have more time before your trip or prefer to have everything arranged in advance.
You can apply directly to the embassy or via trusted travel agents. Though this option saves you the hassle of acquiring a visa, it requires more documents and might be more expensive than getting one on arrival.
Option 2 – Jordan Visa on arrival
This is the most convenient option for short tourist stays. You can either pay a specific amount at the Amman Airport (approximately Rs. 4500, maybe more or less) or get one for free provided you have a Jordan Pass. I selected the latter option since the Jordan pass covers costs for visa, plus entry to over 40+ tourist attractions – all in one!
List of Required Documents:
- Valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining.
- Jordan pass (highly recommended)
- Proof of accommodation (hotel reservation, invitation letter, etc.).
- Proof of booked tickets from and back to India.
- Return flight details.
- In some cases, proof of sufficient funds.
My visa on arrival experience in brief
We applied for Jordan pass well in advance before our actual journey commenced.
As soon as we landed in Amman airport, we contacted the officials who guided us to their immigration office. The main officer there was kind and helpful. We were asked several questions about our purpose of visit, where we work, etc.
Later, the officer filled out an application form for us which was in arabic. We were asked to submit hard copies of our Jordan pass, accommodations, return flight tickets, and a copy of our passports.
Finally, we submitted all these documents and the application form to another booth. After 15 minutes, we got the stamps on our passport along with a printout of the receipt.
The entire process took us about 40-45 minutes.
